Cala Goloritzé trek: practical trail guide
The Cala Goloritzé trail is the most famous walk in Ogliastra: 3.5 km through junipers, holm oaks and white limestone, to a bay with the 143-metre Punta Goloritzé spire.
Trail numbers
Length: 3.5 km one way. Elevation: 500 m downhill. Time: 1 hour down, 1.5 hours up.
Difficulty: medium. Fine for regular walkers, not recommended with very young children or knee issues.
Ticket and rules
Access is capped: book online on the official site. €7 per person, fixed price all year round.
The trail opens early morning and closes in the afternoon. Children under 7 free.
What to bring
Hiking or sturdy gym shoes (no flip-flops). At least 2 L of water per person, hat, sunscreen.
Packed lunch: no bars on the beach. Trash bag to take rubbish out. Swimsuit and light towel for swimming.
From Baunei to the trail
Baunei to Golgo parking: 9 km, 20 min on a scenic road. Paid parking on site.
In summer, start at dawn to dodge heat and find a spot. Da Battista Rooms is 5 minutes from the start of the Golgo road.
FAQ
- Can you do Cala Goloritzé with children?
- Yes, from 7–8 years if they're used to walking. Not advised under 6: the trail is long and at points slippery.
- Can you do the trail in August?
- Yes but only at dawn: after 10 am heat is prohibitive. Start by 7:30 am.
