Where to eat in Baunei: tips for our guests
Baunei is real Ogliastra cuisine: pane carasau, culurgiones, roast pork, cheeses from shepherds we know by name. Don't expect Michelin stars: expect honest dishes, generous portions and fair prices.
What to eat in Baunei
Culurgiones: ravioli filled with potato, pecorino and mint, closed like a wheat ear. The signature dish of Ogliastra.
Porceddu (spit-roasted suckling pig), myrtle-flavoured lamb, fresh and aged pecorino, carasau bread with honey and cheese.
Wine: Cannonau di Ogliastra, robust and fragrant, perfect with meat.
Trattorias in the village
Baunei has several family trattorias in the old town, 5 minutes on foot from our property. Home cooking, booking recommended in high season.
Our guests get up-to-date tips at check-in: where culurgiones are made by hand that morning, where porceddu really comes off the spit.
Agriturismos on the plateau
On the Golgo plateau you'll find agriturismos with a fixed shepherd-style menu: mixed antipasti, a primo, porceddu, desserts, wine. Worth doing at least once.
Booking required; usually closed at midday out of season.
